Shockers Drop Conference Opener at Memphis

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Wichita State fell 85-74 to Memphis, Thursday night at FedExForum in the American Athletic Conference opener for both teams.

Kyvon Davenport paced Memphis (9-5, 1-0) with 25 points on 7-of-11 shooting. He was 9-for-11 at the foul line. Antwaan Jones (16) and Jeremiah Martin (11) joined him in double-figures.

Wichita State (7-6, 0-1 American) dropped consecutive games for the first time this season.

Markis McDuffie scored 19 points to lead a group of four Shockers in double-figures. Samajae Haynes-Jones added 15 points and six assists. Freshmen Isaiah Poor Bear-Chandler and Dexter Dennis tacked on 12 points each.
