Wichita State University student-athletes, coaches and staff members devoted Monday to community service at places such as AbilityPoint, Catholic Charities Harbor House and the Kansas Humane Society.
Serve-A-Thon 2023 matched 173 student-athletes, coaches and staff members with projects ranging from cleanup at Clapp Park to setting up a shelter for HumanKind Ministries to assembling lunches for Meals on Wheels.
"We wanted people to serve the community as one team," said Brooke Schultz, student-athlete experience coordinator. "We had a great turnout. For year one we were really excited with how it went and we know all of the organizations we served were really appreciative.
