Shockers Come Up Short at K-State

MANHATTAN, Kan. -- Wichita State played from in front for more than 30 minutes Saturday night at Bramlage Coliseum but couldn't make enough baskets down the stretch in a 55-50 loss to Kansas State.

Craig Porter Jr. scored 11 points for the Shockers (4-4) who led 45-39 near the midway mark of the second half but managed just five more points on 1-for-11 shooting the rest of the way.

Jaykwon Walton grabbed a team-high nine rebounds to go with nine points.

Keyontae Johnson (17 points) and Nae'Qwan Tomline (14) led the scoring for K-State, which improved to 7-1 under new head coach Jerome Tang.
