Pitcher Payton Tolle and catcher Mauricio Millan play the board game Catan. Last fall, they read Bible passages and discussed with other Shockers during regular studies organized by Tolle.
Those moments aren't at the top of anyone's mind when Millan visits the mound to give Tolle a break during a stressful inning. However, those moments do lay the foundation for how Millan works with Wichita State pitchers.
"He goes to whatever the pitcher's personality is," Tolle said. "He trusts me. I trust him, too, and that's a big part about it.
