RH: Podcast with Dave Lucas of the 1982 Shocker baseball team

Listen to the podcast

Dave Lucas played shortstop for Wichita State baseball in 1982 and 1983. He hit .327 with 15 doubles in 1982 for the College World Series runner-up Shockers.

In the College World Series, he hit a two-run single off Texas' Calvin Schiraldi as part of a six-run third inning that lifted the Shockers to an 8-4 win, eliminated the Longhorns and sent the Shockers to the championship round. Lucas went 2 for 5 in that game and drove in three runs.

Lucas, coach Gene Stephenson said, was the perfect fit for that team because of his solid defense and hitting.
