Chad Gibney is in his fifth season as the women's basketball coach at Western Nebraska Community College in Scottsbluff, Neb. The Cougars went 28-5 in his first season and haven't slowed a bit under Gibney's direction, compiling records of 29-5, 29-4 and 28-2. Western Nebraska is 4-1 this season and ranked No. 14 nationally.
Gibney, from Lincoln, Neb., came to Wichita State with the goal of getting into college coaching. He wanted to work in a successful program where he could learn. His father's connection with former Shocker assistant coach Chris Jans got him in the door.
