Erin McDonald didn't understand why Sunday's 6-2 win over Nebraska prompted such a reaction from assistant coach Ryne Stefankiewicz.
"We came off the field and Ryne hugged me and was crying and I was like 'What?'" she said. "Everyone was like 'You threw a no-hitter.'"
A little confusion is understandable.
While McDonald threw seven innings and recorded all 21 outs, she combined on the no-hitter with starter Caitlin Bingham. And the Huskers did score two first-inning runs on sacrifice flies, so McDonald felt as if she gave up something.
