Wichita State needed a big body to counter the American Athletic Conference's biggest body, so Asbjørn Midtgaard played against UCF and 7-foot-6 center Tacko Fall on Jan. 16. He played a few minutes and made shots and played some more minutes - more than anyone expected.
Midtgaard, a sophomore center, had not played more than nine minutes in any previous game since the season opener. Two games earlier, he did not play vs. Temple.
Two hours later, Midtgaard produced in a game that must be viewed as one of the season's turning points.
