WICHITA, Kan. – Wichita State junior right-handed pitcher Nick Potter was selected in the 5th Round of the 2025 MLB Draft by the Houston Astros on Monday afternoon. Potter was the 156th overall selection.
The Shockers have now had a player picked in 45 consecutive MLB drafts with the exception of 2020, which was shortened to just five rounds due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Potter appeared in 23 games out of the Wichita State bullpen in 2025, going 2-1 with three saves and a 3.34 ERA in 29.2 innings. The native of Greenwood, Missouri struck out 33 and walked 17, allowing 21 hits for an opponent batting average of .
