To come from Pat Summitt’s world of basketball is to come from the best of women’s college basketball. Wichita State coach Jody Adams-Birch got her start there and Summitt’s influence is always present.
“We’re all very blessed to be one of the chosen ones — the 161 players that she coached,” Adams-Birch said. “She changed all of our lives in some way. Our goal is to continue to pay that forward, keep that legacy alive.”
Summitt, the winningest coach in Division I college basketball history who helped boost the women’s game to the big time in a 38-year career at Tennessee, died at 64.
