WICHITA – The American Athletic Conference named Wichita State's Brady Palen the outdoor field athlete of the week following his high jump win Saturday at the KT Woodman Classic.
Palen cleared a personal-best height of 2.18m/7-1.75 to enter the NCAA rankings at No. 8, the second-highest bar in the AAC, just one centimeter behind indoor conference champion Romaine Beckford of South Florida.
Nearing the halfway point of the outdoor season, Palen has finished top three in all three meets he's competed in and cleared 2.05 meters or higher in each. With his national ranking, he is in position to qualify for the NCAA West Preliminaries in Fayetteville, Arkansas at the end of May.
