Mark Lewis threw strikes on the Olympic stage. Now he instructs Wichita State’s best how to roll ’em

Mark Lewis laughs with a players of the women's bowling team on Feb. 12, 2019 at the Rhatigan Student Center.

Mark Lewis has bragging rights no other United States bowler can match.

Lewis is the lone male bowler to have represented the United States in the Olympic Games.

Now an associate coach for the Wichita State bowling program for nearly two decades, Lewis had an out-of-body experience competing at bowling’s highest stage in Seoul, Korea, the only time bowling was included in the Olympic Games. Originally, he made the U.S. team, but he had to win roll-offs against other competitors until finally he made it to a group of 12 who would compete against one another.
