BOSTON, Mass. – Wichita State's Elkana Kipruto claimed his third program record, running 13:37.79 in the 5K Saturday at the Boston University Sharon Colyear-Danville Season Opener.
The sophomore from El Doret, Kenya finished 18th in the invitational section of the 5,000 meters, breaking Mornay Annandale's record of 14:06.23 set in 1992.
Two other Shockers recorded Wichita State all-time top-10 times as Kelvin Kipyego finished his 3,000-meter race in 8:05.12, the second-fastest time in school history, and Lucy Ndungu ran 16:18.89 in the 5,000 meters, the fifth-fastest time in Shocker history.
