LAWRENCE, Kan. – Rising junior Marius Frosa outlasted fellow Shocker Austin Williams to claim the ITA Summer Circuit (Kansas) singles title Monday, hosted by the University of Kansas. The two teamed up to claim the doubles title for a clean sweep in Lawrence.
Frosa, a native of Romania, earned the No. 1 seed in the field of 31. After a first round bye, Frosa started his run with a convincing 6-3, 6-0 win over Olathe's Rudra Dixit. Frosa rolled in the quarterfinals, dropping Aaron Umen of St. Louis to move into the semifinals against fourth-seeded Max Kurzban.
