Former Wichita State bowler rolls 300 during U.S. Open championship

Former Wichita State bowler Francois Lavoie rolled a 300 game on his way to winning the U.S. Open in Las Vegas on Wednesday.

Lavoie, who bowled for the Shockers from 2011-15, defeated top-seeded Marshall Kent 228-194 in the title match.

Lavoie, the No. 2 seed, won $30,000 for his first PBA title.

He became the first person in U.S. Open person to bowl a perfect game during the stepladder finals when he defeated Shawn Maldonado 300-211 in the semifinals.

“This is something I’ve dreamed of for a long time,” he told Aaron Smith of Bowl.
