Evansville drops Wichita State 7-2

Wichita State dropped a 7-2 Missouri Valley Conference baseball game at Evansville on Saturday with an oddity: two interference calls against the Shockers in the same game.

In the second inning, WSU (12-19, 1-1 MVC) had runners on first and third with two outs. Trey Vickers tried to steal second base and the Evansville catcher, Boomer Synek, threw the ball into center field. But the batter, Travis Young, was called out to end the inning because he interfered with the catcher.

In the fifth inning, the Shockers had the bases loaded and no outs. Greyson Jenista hit a slow roller to Evansville first baseman Eric McKibban, who threw to second base, forcing out Tanner Kirk.
