By The Numbers: Improved shooting helps Shockers hold off Jacksonville State; McDuffie’s second-half struggles continue

Wichita State senior Samajae Haynes-Jones put an end to Jacksonville State’s comeback bid Wednesday night in Charles Koch Arena.

Haynes-Jones hit an open three-pointer as the game was winding down put the Shockers up four points after Jacksonville State took their only lead of the game in the final minutes. The Shockers held on, 69-65 to put their record a game above .500.

After shooting a mere 24.2 percent from the field and 18.5 percent from three in a 32-point loss to Oklahoma, WSU had no problem knocking down shots on their home court. On the night, WSU shot 38 percent from the field and an even better 40 percent from three.
