At Waldo Stadium, during the national anthem, the members and friends of the Registered Student Organization YBMSN sat down and raised their fists while wearing all black in a silent protest for Kaepernick’s blackballing by the NFL. Without saying a word or making a scene, the students sent a powerful message that resonated throughout the crowd.

The Vice President of YBMSN, Michael Hall, has stated that the ultimate purpose of the Blackout is to show solidarity for Kaepernick and unity amongst the black community.

“By having this event, we feel that we’re supporting Colin Kaepernick because he’s ultimately fighting for us as black individuals here in the country, it’s only right for us to fight for him as well,” Hall said.
