TEMPE, Ariz. – The Western Michigan women's tennis team has received honorable mention by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association for the Midwest Region Community Service Award.
The team spent its community service time this season in local elementary schools, reading to children, helping them with their math and contributing to special projects at the schools.
"We are honored to be recognized for our work in the community by the ITA," said head coach Ryan Tomlinson. "We made a commitment to get out in the community and spend time with our elementary-aged students. It was very rewarding for the kids, as well as our athletes.
