Under a second left to play, sophomore forward Leighah-Amori Wool was fouled grabbing the board off of a missed mid-range try by Jasmyn Walker that would have given the Broncos a lead down 70-69.
Amori-Wool was unsuccessful at the stripe, missing both free throws. Unable to tie or take the lead, Northern Illinois would escape with the victory, propelling them to the Mid-American Conference Tournament in Cleveland.
Senior guard Deja Wimby led her team against NIU scoring 24 points on Monday night, Amori-Wool followed behind with 17. For Wimby, she leaves Western Michigan as one of two Broncos all time ranking among the top 20 ccareer scorers and in the top five in assists and steals in program history.
