Western Michigan volleyball had Rachel Bontrager earn MAC West Offensive Player of the Week and Kaley Smith earn Defensive Player of the Week after its season-opening sweep of Toledo.
Bontrager ended the weekend with a total of 36 kills and a .333 attack percentage, the second best percentage on the team. On top of the kills, Bontrager also recorded a double-double in the opening match with 16 kills and 10 digs in the five-set victory.
Smith came out of the weekend on top of the MAC leaderboards in total digs with 49 and digs per set with 6.
