The United States Marine Corps and the American Volleyball Coaches Association announced on Monday that the WMU volleyball team has earned the AVCA Team Academic Award.
The award dates back nearly 30 years to 1992-1993 and honors high school and college volleyball teams that have shown academic excellence in the classroom by maintaining a 3.30 team GPA.
WMU earned a 3.57 overall during the 2019-2020 year. This is the seventh time in program history that the volleyball team has won the award and first time they won it since 2013-2014.
Under current head coach Colleen Munson, Bronco volleyball has earned this award six times.
