The Mid-American Conference announced its men’s and women’s tennis Academic All-MAC teams Friday, with Western Michigan securing nine total honors.
On the men’s side, WMU had the most academic honorees with six student-athletes being recognized. Jannik Opitz and Arjun Honnappa both have carried 4.0 GPAs through their careers as Broncos along with exceptional performance on the court. Opitz is a two-time MAC Player of the Year while currently working on a master’s degree in applied statistics. He went 20-2 this season in singles play, all at court No. 1, and had a 9-0 record in MAC competition. Honnappa is studying business, and went 17-4 in singles play this season with a 6-2 MAC record.
