After an 18 win and 28 loss season in 2019 along with a 9-11 Mid-American Conference record, WMU softball was picked to finish eighth in the MAC preseason poll for the 2020 season.
Miami, Kent State and Ball State landed the top three spots.
The team will be under the leadership of head coach Kathy Leitke, who returns for her 20th season in Kalamazoo. She is a distinguished member of Bronco athletics as she is the winningest coach in Bronco softball history, accumulating over 700 career wins.
Keys to a prosperous 2020
WMU had an inconsistent 2019, playing a few games where they looked like a top program in the MAC, but then at other times looked like they couldn’t get anything going and went on some big losing skids.
