Even though the team as a whole finished seventh overall, with a combined time of 1:50:05, good for 164 points, senior runner Hanne Christiansen completed a stellar regular season, finishing the 6,000-meter championship race in first place. She is the first WMU student to win the individual MAC cross country championship since Stacey Kilburn in 1993.
“I felt great during the race; it couldn’t have gone any better,” Christiansen said in a post-race interview with the MAC’s Twitter account. “I couldn’t have asked for a better way to go out, and I couldn’t have done it without my teammates.
