Friday's game was scoreless in the first period which gave the impression that this was going to be a tough matchup. Then, Miami gained momentum in the second, scoring with just over a minute in and then again, three minutes later during a power play. WMU answered with a goal from junior defenseman Corey Schueneman with just over ten minutes left in the second. Miami scored soon on the power play, increasing their lead to 3-1. Miami’s power play, which is the best in the NCAA, gave them the advantage in this game.
Miami capped their win in the third with a goal 16 minutes in.
