WMU Hockey Moves up to No. 14

KALAMAZOO – The Western Michigan hockey team broke through in both national polls this week, calming the 14 spot in both the US College Hockey Online and USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine polls on Monday.

WMU (10-5-3, 4-5-1-1) is fresh off winning the 2016 Great Lakes Invitational and heads into a bye week before hosting No. 3/4 Denver on Friday, Jan. 13 and Saturday, Jan. 14. The Broncos defeated Michigan State in the GLI Semifinals, 4-1, and then went on to beat hosts Michigan Tech in overtime, 1-0, in the championship game.

The 14 spot is the highest Western Michigan has been ranked in the USCHO.
