Coming into the weekend, Western Michigan ranked second in the National Collegiate Hockey Conference and Minnesota Duluth ranked seventh.
Despite this, Friday was an unsuccessful endeavor for WMU as they were beaten by the Minnesota Duluth Bulldogs 3-0.
The Bulldogs scored halfway into the first period off a goal from junior forward Peter Krieger, with an assist from freshman forward Kobe Roth and junior forward Parker Mackay. After a scoreless second period, Minnesota Duluth’s senior forward Avery Peterson found the back of the net with help from freshman defenseman Scott Perunovich and freshman forward Justin Richards.
Minnesota Duluth scored once more while on a power-play.
