WMU football to begin voluntary workouts Wednesday

Western Michigan football will begin voluntary workouts on Wednesday, as confirmed by a team spokesperson.

The Broncos become the fifth and final Football Bowl Subdivision program in the state to welcome football players back to team facilities amid the coronavirus pandemic.

On June 1, the NCAA Division I Council ruled all sports could begin voluntary activities, where only strength staff members are expected to supervise activities.

On July 13, programs can begin mandatory practices as part of the NCAA's plan to go forth with a six-week preseason practice model assuming COVID-19 local and state health policies are considered at the institutional level.
