WMU football team physician: MAC's decision to postpone fall sports was 'multifactorial'

Earlier in the August, the Mid-American Conference made a bold decision to postpone fall athletic competition due to coronavirus concerns.

The conference ended up being the first in the Football Bowl Subdivision to call off football and its other sports before the Big Ten, PAC-12 and Mountain West shortly followed suit.

“The decision is grounded in the core values of the Conference that prioritize student-athlete well-being, an area the MAC has traditionally taken a leadership role,” said MAC commissioner Dr. Jon Steinbrecher. “Clearly, we are charting a conservative path – and it is one that has been recommended by our medical advisory group.
