“I wish I could make an excuse for him, and he wouldn’t want me to either, but he just didn’t do as well as he can,” head coach Billy Gernon said. “His first couple of innings were pretty good, but he walked a few guys and made a few errors behind him or plays that didn’t show up as errors, that you just need to make.”
