What the NCAA recruiting dead period ending means to WMU coaches

Since March 13, 2020, no high school student-athlete has been able to step foot in any athletic facility on Western Michigan’s campus, nor any other around the country. The wait to get recruits on campus is finally nearing its end.

The NCAA has officially announced the recruiting dead period will end June 1, allowing college coaches to meet face-to-face with recruits and invite them on campus for the first time in over 14 months. Athletics programs at Western Michigan and around the country are eager to finally welcome recruits to campus once again.

"The NCAA Recruiting dead period ending on June first will significantly impact college athletics,” said men’s basketball head coach Clayton Bates.
