On Wednesday, March 1, the Western Michigan University athletic department released the full schedule for the coming 2017 football season.
Although, the anomaly that threw excited Bronco fans for a whirl came near the bottom of the schedule against rival Central Michigan University. WMU would host the Chippewas at Waldo Stadium on Nov. 1, the day after Halloween, in the Midweek MACtion series, which just so happened to be on a Wednesday.
“ESPN was very interested in that game. It speaks to the national attention that has come into that rivalry,” Mid-American Conference commissioner Jon Steinbrecher said.
