It took two overtime games and one scary moment, but the Western Michigan men's hockey team has moved on to the National College Hockey Conference Frozen Faceoff semifinals.
The Broncos lost the series opener in overtime Friday night to Omaha 2-1 but battled back Saturday for a 5-2 win to force a deciding game Sunday in the best-of-three series.
Both teams scored once in the first period and went scoreless in the final two periods, forcing another overtime period.
Broncos senior forward Michael Rebry took a pass from teammate Lawton Courtnall and flung a backhanded shot past Omaha goalie Evan Weninger to capture a 2-1 win.
