WMU is on pace to claim a MAC West Division title and have a chance to play for the MAC title after the regular season. Since 1906, the Broncos have only won the MAC three times in the years 1929, 1966 and 1988.
Under head coach P.J. Fleck, Western Michigan has advanced to bowl play for the past two seasons, winning the Bahamas Bowl on Christmas Eve against the Middle Tennessee State University Blue Raiders last year. Only seven weeks into the season, Western Michigan is one of only 13 teams in the nation to become bowl eligible, with early projections putting the Broncos in the Dollar General Bowl against the University of Troy on December 23.
