KALAMAZOO, MI - Before captains from the Western Michigan and Akron teams meet at midfield for the pregame coin toss, WMU's 94th homecoming football game will already be an unforgettable affair.

Lightning and heavy rains delayed the game's start Saturday afternoon and left the field underwater by nightfall.

But more than one million gallons of water were pumped off the field and the playing surface was sanitized by Sunday morning, so the Mid-American Conference matchup will kick off 1:05 p.m. at Waldo Stadium.

What a beautiful site!! Over 1 Million gallons of water pumped off the field last night & today.
