LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Western Michigan volleyball program was recognized by the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) for its civic duty, earning the inaugural AVCA Voting Community Award the organization announced.
To receive this award, 100 percent of eligible student-athletes and coaches had to participate in the 2020 Presidential election.
NCAA Women's Division I teams led the way with 96 recipients, followed by NCAA Women's Division III with 41. In total 10 collegiate men's programs received the award. A total of 14 club and high school staffs also qualified based on their participation.
Western Michigan was one of six teams to represent the Mid-American Conference.
