Track & Field Opens Outdoor Season at Victor Lopez Classic

KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Western Michigan track and field team is back in action, kicking off the 2017 Outdoor Season at the 35th annual Victor Lopez Classic at Rice University on Friday and Saturday.

The meet, which WMU last competed at last season, will give the Broncos a tough test right out of the gate against the host Owls, Texas, Lamar, Houston and others. The Victor Lopez Classic also starts off a challenging outdoor season. WMU hosts Eastern Michigan for the Jack Shaw Classic next Friday but then heads to Auburn, Ball State, Ohio State, The Penn Relays, and Kentucky before returning to Kalamazoo to host the 2016 Mid-American Conference Outdoor Championships on May 11-13.
