Dan Bartholomae knew Western Michigan was a sleeping giant when it came to mid major athletics. Just three years after his hire as Athletic Director, WMU is competing at the highest levels.
In just over three years, Bartholomae led the charge alongside Hockey Head Coach Pat Ferschweiler to bring WMU its third national championship ever, and just the first since 1965.
“There’s no better vehicle that the University has quite like athletics to get you that national reach,” said Bartholomae on what the National Championship meant to WMU.
“The combination of winning a National Championship in a revenue sport, and combine that with being on national television and everyone is watching you, that was our moment,” continued Bartholomae.
