Prior to the 2015-16 hockey season the Sun Devils were playing in the American Collegiate Hockey Association. There, the team made it to 10 ACHA National tournaments, finding success in the 2013-14 season when they won their first National Championship.
Senior defenseman Drew Newmeyer was a part of that national championship team, in his first year with the team. He is also an Arizona native, who growing up didn’t play the most popular sport in his school.
“It was definitely not the most popular sport in my school, but there was a lot of good hockey there.
