St. Cloud State hires Western Michigan hockey assistant Dave Shyiak as associate head coach

Western Michigan hockey assistant coach Dave Shyiak has accepted an associate head coaching role with the NCHC's St. Cloud State Huskies.

Shyiak made the announcement on Saturday via his Twitter account. The associate head coaching role at St. Cloud will be the same title Shyiak had at Western Michigan, as he has served in that role under WMU head coach Andy Murray since he was brought on the staff in the 2014-15 season.

Shyiak has been coaching in college hockey since 1995 when he began coaching at his alma mater Northern Michigan University. After being with NMU for 10 years, Shyiak went on to be the head coach of Alaska-Anchorage for eight seasons.
