The first period remained neutral between the two teams as they both attempted to keep the puck out of their net rather than scoring into their opponents. The Lunatics waited patiently for some action but not until a little over three minutes left in the period did Western Michigan get their first penalty of the night but held on to a scoreless period by the end.
Quickly into the second period, the Broncos had a five-minute penalty for checking from behind which led to St. Cloud’s first goal of the night a little under a minute and a half into the penalty.
