CLEVELAND – Western Michigan sophomore forward Suzuna Shibukawa and junior goalkeeper Hannah Sargent both earned Mid-American Conference West Division Player of the Week awards, announced by the MAC on Wednesday morning.
Shibukawa was named MAC West Offensive Player of the Week after helping the women's soccer team start off the season 2-0 last week. In the 1-0 win at Northern Illinois she helped provide energy and attacking threat off the bench. In Sunday's 4-0 win over Eastern Michigan she had a career day on the pitch. Shibukawa netted WMU's first goal of the game early in the second half to break the scoreless tie after heading in a corner kick from Jenna Blackburn.
