Rutgers LB transfer Najee Clayton hungry to make WMU football debut

KALAMAZOO, MI - Najee Clayton laced up his first pair of football cleats at age 5, and for the next 15 years, his fall seasons were spent on the gridiron.

NCAA transfer rules prevented the former Rutgers linebacker from taking the field with Western Michigan in 2017, so when the Broncos open the 2018 campaign against Syracuse on Aug. 31, Clayton will see his first action since September of 2016.

Needless to say, the New Jersey native is hungrier than ever to show his stuff.

"I'm ready to attack somebody on another team finally," said the 6-foot-2, 220-pound Clayton, who has two years of eligibility in Kalamazoo.
