Remaining Western Michigan assistants prepared to help with visiting recruits

KALAMAZOO, MI -- High school football recruits who arrive on the campus of Western Michigan University this weekend will find the coaching cupboard pretty bare.

The departure of former head coach P.J. Fleck to Minnesota started a mass exodus of sorts as the popular leader took some of his staff with him.

First on the list was offensive coordinator Kirk Ciarrocca, who spent all four years with Fleck at Western Michigan.

Broncos athletic director Kathy Beauregard confirmed wide receivers coach Matt Simon, offensive line coach Brian Callahan and special teams coordinator Rob Wenger are gone. Strength and conditioning coach Dan Nichol also turned in his resignation.
