CLEVELAND – Western Michigan cross country's Rebecca McNamee was honored by the Mid-American Conference on Friday, earning MAC Distinguished Scholar Athlete accolades for the 2020 season.
The senior excelled in competition and in the classroom. She was WMU's top runner in its three meets during the COVID-shortened season. McNamee capped the season off with a personal-best time 21:16.5 at the MAC Championships, earning Second Team All-MAC honors after finishing in eighth place.
This is the first time in the Marquette, Mich., native's career that she has earned the honors. McNamee, who is already out to a strong start during the indoor track and field season with two first place finishes and a personal-best in the 3,000-meter run, boasts a 3.
