RB Matt Falcon ends WMU football career with medical disqualification

KALAMAZOO, MI - Recruiting rankings don't always guarantee success, but it's unfortunate when players fail to live up to their billing through no fault of their own.

That's where Western Michigan running back Matt Falcon finds himself, as the heralded recruit out of Southfield, Mich. was ruled medically disqualified this spring, effectively ending his playing career in Kalamazoo.

At one point ranked as the nation's No. 13 running back by 247Sports.com, Falcon held offers from traditional powers, including Ohio State, Michigan and Tennessee, heading into his senior year of high school.

The four-star recruit ended up committing to the Wolverines, but a second ACL tear before his senior season at Southfield prompted the Wolverines to offer him a medical scholarship instead, which would have prevented him from seeing the field.
