Penalties continue to plague Broncos as No. 8 Western Michigan falls 6-3 in loss to Omaha

The No. 8 Western Michigan Bronco hockey team fell to the Omaha Mavericks 6-3 on Saturday after winning the first game Friday night. Both teams have split the season series with two wins a piece.

Omaha busted right out of the gates and took a 2-0 lead on the Broncos within the first seven minutes of play of the first period. Forward Austin Rueschhoff scored near the end of the period to give the Broncos some hope cutting their deficit to one.

Having a 2-1 lead going into the second period, Omaha took control of period coming in scoring three goals in the period, with one of them being a power play goal making it 5-1 Mavericks.
