Opitz Breaks Career Doubles Wins Record as WMU Downs YSU, 7-0

KALAMAZOO, Mich. – Senior Jannik Opitz broke his second program record as the Western Michigan men's tennis team picked up its third win in three days, beating Youngstown State 7-0 at West Hills Athletic Club on Sunday afternoon.

Opitz and fellow senior Zac Faveri won at No. 1 doubles over Vasilis Vardakis and Erik Gran, 6-1, to give Opitz the WMU career record for doubles wins with 112. He breaks Casey Cullen's record that was set back in 2011.

Shortly after the first doubles victory, the duo of Arjun Honnappa and Fynn Lohse defeated David Moreno and Joao Garretto, 6-2, to clinch the doubles point.
