“That’s how I’ve been my whole life; I’d rather have someone else get all of the light and the fame,” Okorafor said. “I just kind of stay back and work; that’s just me.” Despite being arguably one of the best offensive tackles in the nation, the 6 foot 6, 330 pound Okorafor didn’t play organized football until his junior year of high school.
Okorafor grew up in Nigeria, South Africa and Barcelona, and Spain before coming to the United States and living in Southfield, Michigan. He played soccer while living outside of the United States, but his size and speed were made for a football player, and he quickly joined the Southfield High School Warriors on Friday nights.
